WOW! +100000000 on what Dave said. I am blown away by the styling and the design. I absolutely LOVE it.

I know this is out there and unlikely, but would you be interested in doing custom builds for people? I'm selling off a lot of gear and getting back into saving my money, either for a custom fretless build or for a new motorcycle. A bass won't kill me as quickly as a CBR600 will.

Oh, and ps, if you start doing builds for people, I would LOVE to be on that list!

I have a old bass that a friend gave me, the maple fretborad is coming away from the neck to about the 7th fret. I'm going to use Acetone to loosen and remove the rest of the fretborad, and order a new truss rod from stewart mcdonald. Could you advise me the best wood glue or epoxy to use to reglue the fretborad back to the neck?
P.S. Can't wait to see how hot looking your bass is going to turn out to be!

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Slowly getting there...

Got the whole body sanded to 220 on the redwood burl bass. This has been done to the neck since I re-shaped the heel a few weeks ago. I've decided I'm going to epoxy the neck in place. I'll be taking care of that when I get back from vacation next week.

in these pics you can see the layout of the controls on the front and that the control cavity cover has been sanded flush on the back. Also, these are the best shots so far of showing off what the final appearance of the wood will look like, wet with naphtha and with decent sunlight on them.

Progress, finally.

I glued in the neck on the redwood bass using West Systems epoxy, routed the neck tenon flush with the body (almost), and routed the remainder of the precision neck pickup where the tenon protruded into the pickup route.

All the rough woodwork is now done on this bass, and everything is sanded to 220, with a few areas that need to be touched up.

It's about time to get the wenge bass caught up with this one!

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Rgarcia26 - I designed the logo disk in adobe illustrator. I then got a guy with a laser cutter to cut me out several of them from a white plastic material and bloodwood. Then I used a 1" forstner bit to cut the hole for it. I glued the disk in with epoxy, then filled the recess where my initials are with a mixture of epoxy and black furniture powder, and sanded everything flush.

Pretty simple really, and it offers a nice custom effect.

Been quite a while since I updated this thread. Life gets busy sometimes. I've been trying to get the wenge bass caught up with the redwood bass. Here's what it looks like at the moment.

I'm much more traditionalist with body designs, and when not, prefer more symmetrical geometry.

But sir, you make one fantastic neck.
Also like how it runs to the neck pickup cavity.

I also love how the neck runs into the body! It looks great. I love how it is perfectly flush with the body. I have seen far to many bolt on necks that attempt this, but fall short. Great job!

Time to resurrect this thread from the dead!

It's been an awful long time, but I finally have one of the two basses that I discussed in this thread finished. In the interim I have moved, had a kid, etc, etc. Sometimes life slows down ones hobbies...

Here are a few 'glamor shots' of the finished wenge topped bass. Hope you guys enjoy:
