4 piece bass body

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought an MTD Kingston KZ6 bass and I noticed taking it home after closer inspection that the body appears to consists of 4 separate pieces of wood. Intuitively to me this seems like it would adversely affect the tone. What do you guys think? How much does that fact that it's 4 pieces of wood affect the tone as opposed to being one piece of wood? Thanks.

I really wouldn't worry about it. The type of magnet used in the pickups would probably merit more concern.

4? you need way more than that

bodies are hardly ever 1 piece. Most are 2 or 3, but depending on the species you can only get good board so wide

A 4 piece body will kill the mid-humpİ.

alembics are like 7 pieces of wood and that;s not even the fancy ones. Alembics suck pretty bad too, especially those hippie sandwich ones

one of these days someone will go up to the basses section and destroy a lot of pretentious tone wood discussions when they tell all the fleabs that there really isn't such thing as a tone wood for solidbodies, and that this is a reference to acoustic tops almost exclusively. Or maybe we'll keep it our little secret...LMAO

Why you asking us if it will kill the tone?
You actually have the bass n your hands, does the tone sound dead to you?

Thanks for all your "nice" replies. It was a simple innocent question. Nothing pretentious about it.

It's just a common sense question. You would think a single piece has more continuity and stability in vibration rather than multiple pieces glued together. Whether you can hear it or not is another question.

Yes I do have the bass in my hands but I do not have the same bass made as a single piece in my hands for comparison.
