ok i had a bad experience with this bass so i pawned it (ONE YR AGO) well last march... anyhow went to pawn shop -it was out of town i had moved- and the thing was still there they forgot to put it out for sale so i figured it must have some destiny with me... so anyhow here is what im thinking

that is not the one... this is the one i have... i just didnt have a 5 string pic of it

so im thinking the way the bridge pieces are you can retap them on the other side of the 2 middle strings and remove the left over and have a very wide 4 string... like thisClick image for larger version

anyhow do those barts have pole peices or are they more of a blade type pickup...

any reason not to do this... i think i could shim the pole pieces a tad to get the spacing correct...

use heavy guage strings as it would be less tension now on the neck... seems like it would be a slappin machine for someone with bumblefingers like i have

this pic shows how the bridge is... just pull out the center bridge peice and tap holes in the other "leg" of the remaining ones and it almost is perfect.. gonna try to use small shims to equal it out if needed

put a quarter on the strings to show the spacing... gonna be comfy
and of course my copilot... she is a biken critter

anyhow are barts like a blade type pickup or do they actually have individual pole peices that are now gonna be outa whack

and (keep in mind im a guitar player playn bass) will switchin to 4 cause the neck to warp.. heard those those curbows tend to be not the most stable

i was hoping that the bridge peices would have holes on both sides where they connected (figured they would so they could use them in diff configs) but they arent... only mod when done should be two tapped holes in the bridge and a new nut

bad part is im 3 or 4 days till i have shop access again

Those pickups should have bar magnets, so pole alignment won't be an issue. And the neck may need some adjustment, but probably not much.

I would go with indie/monorail bridges for that.
