54 p bass + tele controls

Sign in to disble this ad
I am building a custom bass with two jazz pickups and a darkstar in the neck position. The body I am thinking about using is a 54 P bass with standard control cavity. My question is whether I will be able to fit a Fender Telecaster Control Plate over the cavity as my custom electronics/controls are a 5 way switch to select pickups, a volume knob and a tone knob and the only control plate with this configuration is a telecaster guitar one. Will the electronics fit and will the plate fit the cavity? Thanks for any responses

you may have to do some minor trimming to the nd of the cavity depending on the switch you use. Are you making your own cover plate? The tele cover plate is made for a 3-way, which has a shorter slot than the 5 -way requires. If you take your time and plan out the layout, it should work with mini taper pots and a 5-way, but you have to lay it out correctly.
