grain fill was matched to the padauk with analine dyes; i used red yellow and brown to get what i was look ing for
it was sooo hot that the filling got ahead of me and it took a good hour to remove the dried paste off; too ambitious i guess for my first time pore filling with colour! but i think it was worth it;

so after quite a few coats of 'oil' (w.o.poly)
and sitting around for an addequate time period , assembly began;
it went very smooth and w/o hair loss;
strung her up , had some issues with my pots grounding out on the foil, but alleviated that with our friend electrical tape; and we were off;
sounded great, growls with good mids; im not a 5 string player so i found the B a bit floppy, but apparently im crazy;....which makes me happy!

also in the news; i finally launched my website; its kinda 'up' but thres still alot of work to be done; thats why there is 5 year old pictures and some of the write ups dont make all that much sense; but its great for not having one yet; so check it out and drop a line
thanks alot!

Great job! The shape and finish remind of an F bass, it must be good!

ya it sounds pretty good; like i said ; i wish i knew some tricks to tighten up the B string;
but im assured i m just not used to them;
and its a little heavy but still very handable, with good balance, and pretty low action;
the B is a little higher for the floppinness.

Very nice! Great idea with the grain fill color match. Nice funky pickup surround.

it looks great but you need to do a wood pickup cover. The cheap black plastic one looks bad in my opinion.

Other than that, great bass!

Love the bass, the color pore filling is hot! If you want a tighter b string, why not try a thicker string.

There are no "tricks". Pretty much anything that claims to give you a tighter B without a change in scale length or string weight are just subjective changes in feel, not actually changes in the tension of the string.

i was thinking about a cover over the pickup, but didnt think it went well after i had the surround concept; and theres nothing 'cheap' about the bartolini lol

I think that's just one of those things that doesn't look as good in pictures as in real life.
