7 String bass 2.0

i am taking my 7 string design and going for round 2. this one will be "rainbow" style. the body woods will be cherry/curly maple/cherry/red oak/maple/walnut. the headstock will be curly maple/cherry/curly maple. the neck will be a 5 piece laminate of red oak and maple. the scale length will be 37" across all 7 strings.

Wow, 37 inch is a big scale! I hope you can get some good strings fot it.

Can't wait to see the end result on this 7 stringer Cheers

My last one was a fanned fret 7 with the low F at 37". It works great. It sounds tight as hell!

As far as strings go, i am endorsed by Darkhorse Strings out of Pennsylvania, custom set are no issue.

the fingerboard is going to be cocobola and the neck is 1 piece curly maple.

sanding is done, thank god........

the first coat of oil was applied today. the figure of the curly maple just pops!








my tuners have not arrived yet, so the headstock remains unfinished for now.

I commend you for working with red oak. It's not a very common lutherie wood, and I personally find it obstinate to work with. You seem to be able to deal with it pretty well.
