ABG bass with Archtop and Upright tailpiece?

Sign in to disble this ad
How tricky would it be to build a hollow body bass with an arch top, bolt on neck and upright style tailpiece with piezo transducer?

How hard would it be to convert, say an old vox bass to have an upright style tailpiece and piezo transducer?

I'm looking fr this sound:
http://nitkin.com/MP3/ballad-marco.mp3

This is a hollow bass guitar with an upright style bridge and piezo transducer...

More specifically,
How hard would it be to create an instrument similar to this?

http://www.marcoguitarsbass.com/inde...os/Page381.htm

sans the unique body shape, but hollow— I don't actually think that's an archtop either...

Take a look at Ibanez's high end acoustic for inspiration - I think that it is what you are describing.

I'm not personally familiar with the vox you're talking about, but the upright bridge would be easy to make, and you can just buy an upright tailpiece with fine tuners attached like this: http://www.violins.ca/fittings/tailp...bon_metal.html
Cello size is preferable as bass tailpieces tend to be too long for use on an electric...
