ABG with an "ergonomical" body thickness contour?

Sign in to disble this ad
An ABG with a large, thick body can be more difficult to play for obvious reasons. But isn't it possible to make a body so that it's thinner in the middle and gradually becomes thicker to the edges - just as the contour of one's stomach goes?

ibanez has a line that has a similar shape, the model line is EDB.

warwicks have this as well, i know the thumbs do (at least the NTs) and i think some of their other models do too

Well I meant acoustic bass guitars, not electric ones - I have a hard time imagining how body thickness would be a concern on an electric bass.

I think Rick Turner makes one that's wedge shaped in thickness, in two directions even. Shallow at the neck, bass side of the body, and much deeper at the bridge, treble side of the body. I assume that makes it much easier to play, those basses are "unobtainium" on this side of the pond.

Best regards,

Jarno.

This should get you going.

There are links here to several ergonomic acoustic guitars. But maybe you should consider switching to light beer?
