ABG with Nylon Strings

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone heard of, seen, designed, played, etc. an Acoustic Bass Guitar with nylon strings in the same style as a classical guitar? One of the chief issues with ABG's is volume, but the bass response out of the Classical guitars is [retty impressive. I wonder if anyone has ever thought to carry that over to a bass guitar. I know that finding strings would be difficult, but I have one outlet for them.

Geez it took 39 views for someone to mention the TI Acousticores? I think LaBella makes a bronze/nylon bass string as well.
I have a set for my ABG, though I'm not currently using them. You lose a lot of tension and really have to modify your playing, and right now I'm into the brassy, punky ABG sound. The nylon core, though, really makes the piezo sound better.

Theres been some talk around here about using I believe cello strings on an acoustic bass. Lokire maybe was trying it.

I've got two gut-core Cello strings on my acoustic Kinal right now and I love them! To me though, acoustic volume isn't a priority since you'll have to be amplified to play with any other instruments anyways. But they sound and feel great

The 'E' and 'A' there are the Cello strings. I want to get a couple more for the bass, but the guy I got them from isn't responding to my e-mails now...
