Thumbs down The Abomination Bass!!!

Well where do I start, I suppose with the cheesy story about my bass. Well it began its life as a black Schecter Omen, and has been by far the most 'normal' feeling bass to me. No matter what other basses I buy I always seem to come back to it. Now I never really got the tones i wanted from it, I have used EMG's and bartolinis to no avail, but I mean it sounds good but there is no zing or anything special, for me the stingray is my favorite sounding bass because that its got that sound I just dont know how to describe it but my god I love it. And the look of the Schecter is very nice but I really love Ricks so the inevitable had to happen, ghetto rig my schecters bass body because i love the ergonomics.
I am not sure if this makes sense to anyone but I am making a bass that i think will cover the spectrum of what i play.
With this in mind for myself I will be taking my schecter and shaping to fit my taste by shaping it into a sorta ric, and have that musicman pickup but will also have a p-bass pickup.

Any who with that in mind the parts list will consist of:
Nordstrand Music Man MM4.2 Alnico
EMG P-bass pickup
New black tuners
Perhaps a new bridge
rick inspired pickguard

I think for now im going to reuse the bart 3 band active eq for now at least.

What it started life out as... Haha dont my the idiot in the picture its me from a couple years ago.

The shaping and initial plan

A lil more sanding and primer to see what it would really look like

Mind you this is still in the rough right now and yes this is definitly not very pretty but hey it aint gonna look better lol.

Oddly enough I kind of like the two tone effect you accidentally created.

I'm actually a big fan of the black-to-white fade thing you've created, as well. I would maybe try to do something with those nicks in the horn, but, other than cosmetics, those won't effect the sound at all.

Keep going. I'm interested in seeing how it ends up!

Just installed the Nordstrand today and wow its amazing lol the only problem I can see is that the preamp doesnt give enough boost and the g string is kinda well sounds funky as hell. But its very good very stingrayish. Hopefully tomorow ill route out the p pick up and get some pictures up soon.

Well I decided to break out my best friend, Bondo, and fill in the gaps left. Haha gotta love the tone bondo gives better than your exotic tone woods. Its a little rough but you get the idea. Still loads more to go but unfortunately im sick .

You're not creating an abomination - you're doing what all great innovators do. If the status quo was alright for everyone, there wouldn't be anything more advanced than animal-hyde drums - if that.

Keep chasing that tone!

So I was really bored today and decided to throw in that EMG pickup i had. And well I think I just created something very intresting. I always see the musicman style pickup paired with a jazz pickup but I think the P is a better match. I will get better pics up in the morning but maybe now I can actually start refinishing my bass.

Well, clean up that P route and give it a nice paint job, and it'll be awesome.

I like it.

However, I do have one question: It looks like you didn't remove the parts (pickups, electronics, Neck, etc....) before spraying the white. How come? (If you did and I just can't see it, please ignore this....)
