Here's a pic of some of the woods for my first 'commisioned' bass......
the wood on the top left is 1" + thick canarywood for the body core
wood on the bottom left is gonna be the 'back laminate' and is jujube wood with mineral poplar inbetween.
just got the neck blank glued up and planed yesterday, and was my first purchase from Larry ....nice wood....maple and mac. ebony...
mac. ebony fingerboard
quilted maple top
I have some black veneer that I want to put between the back laminate and the body core, but as you can see I've already glued up my 'body blank' and back laminate. The veneer is about 7-8" wide, so it'll take 2 pieces.
I don't know whether to glue everything up at once: (body core, accent veneer, back laminate) or whether to do it in steps.....(glue veneer to body core) then back laminate to body core/veneer.
I'm afraid (I know) if I glue everything up at once, the veneer will just slip and I'll never get it lined up right.
is there a way to glue JUST the veneer together first?
Any ideas on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
thx in advance.
