One for weighing game fish would work great, you can get one at most sporting goods stores.

I got one for about $25 at Sports Authority recently. It reads down to ounces, but not fractions of an ounce.

Tom, if you have a Sams club in your area, and I believe you have 2 or 3 as I remember, they have a small parcel scale for about $80. It weighs to the 10th of an ounce, and is incredibly accurate, I use mine for mailing parts, and pieces. It's able to be recalibrated(quite easilly) and mine has been great for 2 years now, not a problem.

15 lbs! what kind of monster basses are you building. I'm just kidding, it's nice to weigh your wood when you start.

Just in case. I was forced to build one that did end up at 13 and that was way too much..

The heavist instrument I built weighed 14.5 lbs. a 12 string tapper with bubinga in the neck. The guy who bought it told me he it the only instrument he plays in his band. I would think after 15 minutes or so you would hope the gig was almost over.

You might want to go up to 50 lb. so you can also use it to weigh packages for shipping (bass and case).

Have you ever thought about collecting all the chips and sawdust and weighing them.

I bet you could weigh it on a simple kitchen scales. :P

i dont believe it has been specifically stated (maybe it has...), but are you looking for one of those scales that hangs from something, or something to lay your parts on? i know nothing about bass building, so maybe you dont want it hanging from something? i dont know, but i would imagine thats the cheapest way to weigh something fairly heavy, and it would be easier than having to worry about centering parts on a smaller surface. theres probably some straps to hold suspended/weighed parts that are lined with some sort of soft fabric or whatever. anyway, thats just a thought.

EDIT:

oh... i just read the title again, and it had the "digital" part, which i havent seen on one of those hanging scales. in fact, ive only seen them on the show mythbusters, and they were that little circle with the numbers (weight) and the needle and all that. maybe they have digital ones...? also, why must it be digital?

I am sure there are much more accurate scales if you want to get into scientific grades, but for accuracy to the tenth of an ounce, This thing works great.

135 lbs is the most I have weighed on it....weighed my wife....LMAO she was so pi$$ed....LOL

I bought a electronic postal scale off of ebay for $25, it will go up to 15lbs. which should be all you need. It is very accurate. I weigh complete basses and individual parts on mine all the time and it is very small and light. Runs off of a 9v. battery.

nice thing about being 6'2" and wife only being 5'4" is that she is easilly removed from a standing position, to replacement somewhere else with little resistance. She didn't know I was weighing her until she stepped down and realised she was standing on the postal scale....LMAO We have fun that way though, we're not too awful pretentious about much these days.
