A new build just under way.
A Harlot 4 string fretless.

Spec
Flame Sycamore top with a Butternut body.
5 piece maple/mac ebony neck with a Ziracote acrylic impregnated finger board from Gallery Hardwoods .It will have partial fret lines.
Single ACG RFB pickup and a piezobridge.
Details on the hook up of the piezo still to be sorted out. Should have the piezo output feeding in to one of the filters in the pre-amp with magnetic pickup going in to the other.

Very nice, as usual

I was just reading an old magazine article on butternut. Isn't it rather soft? BTW, considering the stress my GAS puts on my marriage at times, I'd love to own a bass called a 'harlot'.

Thanks UB kind words always appreciated.

It is softer than black walnut but not any softer than alder so it should work pretty well with the harder top on it.

This must be the bass you mentioned on Wilser’s Fretless 7 thread.
The similar specs sure do translate nicely here.
And this is my favorite of your body designs .
Overall; Very, very nice!

i think it only appears so. if you look closely, i believe the rest of the fret lines are visible. then again, i may be wrong.
nvm, just reread his original post. i guess i am simply seeing the unfilled slots.

It is the bass I mentioned in Wilser's thread as I am sure you can see the similarities. In fact I suggested the fingerboard then realised I had brought it one step closer to Wilser's bass, subconsciously infiltrated by WR and his basses.

The fretlines will be partial what you are seeing is where I scored the board with my fret slotting saw. These marks will be gone when the radius is put on the board.

finger board glued up and trimmed down. Next the radius which will clean up the scored fretlines.
