Acoustic electric piezo equipped Jazz- good idea?

I have an idea for taking a cheapish fretless Jazz like the Squier and gutting it of all electronics and adding a piezo. Sounds a little iffy, but what the heck. I would string it with tapes, flats, or Acousticores for sure. What do ya think?

Do it, are you thinking only piezo, or do you want to be able to switch?

I was thinking only piezo, as I already have electrics with magnetic pups, but I might put magnetic in the neck.

I actually bought a cheap piezo-equipped bridge off of ebay and have been meaning to install it into my Squire VM fretless jazz. Never got around to it, mainly because I don't have the necessary routing equipment for making room for a battery and my homemade buffer.

Well, I'm working on making a 6-string fretless with a Piezo-only setup. From what I've read, getting the tone you want lies in making sure that your buffer does the job properly.

So, I'd say go for it! Keep us posted how you get on - I'd love to hear the results!

Dan
