After looking at a lot of bracing patterns, and thinking about the construction of a double bass, would an acoustic bass guitar benefit from a 'bass bar' brace?

Or would the larger brace on the bass side actually become a detractor to the low end of an already weak sound?

i think it depends on the bridge design. upright bass bridges sort of rock between the two feet, so having the bass bar under one of these 'pivot points' helps to transfer vibration along the soundboard. but with a typical bass guitar bridge, i think a bass bar would just stiffen the soundboard and reduce volume. just conjecture of course.
