Have been rebuilding what I think is a 62 to64 precision bass for some time now...I purchased 62 reissue tuning lugs and pickups, new red tortoise shell pickguard... the fretts are fine...the neck is true... I have resanded a natural finish off.and restained it a redish brown color simular to a gibson SG color... put five coats of laquer... the finish looks awesome..." No it was not a 3 color sunburst when I bought it" Now the finishing touch is the badassII bridge. A friend of mine gave me the bridge to finish the project and the saddles aren't grooved out for the strings... Will this make a difference with the tone or sustain? Would appreciate some advice please. Looking forward to playing this baby soon. Hope to share some pictures of the build soon as I figure how to enter them on the site. Thanks for your time. Ray
I have one grooved and one not. Can't tell the difference in feel or sound.

I don't think there wil be a difference in the sound.
But if it's not grooved, it's possible that the strings will not be perfectly in line with the pickups. I have the "problem" with mine. Not a big deal, but I will once have to groove the bridge
