Alstonia?

I saw a bass with a neck made of this wood (alstonia), and I was wondering if anyone has ever used this stuff before, or if anyone has even heard of it. I did a web search on it and all I found was that it's acknowledged by the USDA (for reasons unknown to me), it's a herb, and it grows in Florida and Hawaii.

Did u find this bass on ebay. I looked it up one time too and figured it was cheap because they didn't use maple. Its like a whitewood not as strong as maple and probably really cheap and really easy to shape. I have no idea what it sounds like.

Yeah, it was on eBay. Looks like an Austin bass. Before I started my jazz project, I thought about buying this bass and upgrading the heck out of it, like some do with Essex stuff. I'd probably scrap the neck, but the body looks useable.
