Bass picture idea for my bass.

Hope this goes here. So i decided to buy a saga jb 12 fretless kit. My spear has to be fixed the screws for the plate on the truss rod on stripped and the truss rod has to be adjusted. I got 2 of the three out screws out.

Anyways i wanted something to build so i chose a bass. now I wanted to do something cool on it. I learned that there is stuff called transfer medium that will take the ink off of a laserprinted piece of paper.

So i spent hours in photoshop getting an image i liked to propper size now all i have to do is get it printed at staples. What do you guys think?

That should be interesting. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Have you drawn the holes for the pickups and the neck pocket to be a perfect match? I would rather print it without the black areas just to make sure;)

HaMMerHeD 01-07-2013 11:33 AM

^^ And I would also print matching transfers for the pickup covers.

Also...love it.

Spear=spare... gotcha. :)
Artwork on bass: LOVE it. Post progress or at least the end product.

Thanks guys!!! I will have progress updates for you. The kit should come by Thursday. I picked up the transfer gel today. The original pic I used off of a template.. I'm gonna print 3 copys s one original one plus 5% and one -5%.

Deathly Hallows, right? Pretty cool design, but it's a shame it'll be on a top rout bass, the J control plate will take up a fair amount of space.

Permaspooked 01-07-2013 05:27 PM

I plan on bying clear pickguard and plate. To keep as much of the picture as possible.

Looks pretty cool, can't wait to see how it turns out.

Very neat idea, I like it. On a side note, how cool was that scene in the film? when it ended I wished it had been it's own full length film. Very cool art style.

Scott in Dallas 01-07-2013 06:37 PM

I may try that for a headstock logo. Would be a neat way to install a logo that looks kind of woody.

Permaspooked 01-08-2013 07:44 AM

thanks again guys for the support. @acnick yeah i loved the art sdtyle they used for the story. would def be a coll full length movie. @scott in dallas go for it!!!

i read that the saga kits come pre sealed. does this mean i cant stain it?

Permaspooked 01-10-2013 01:55 PM

Time to get down to business. Im gonna document as much of the progress I can and modify it into a tutorial at the end.

I had to gut out the headstock how I wanted. So here are my steps for that.

I started making templates to see what I liked best.

After deciding what I wanted. I penciled it on my headstock.

Then cut it out.

Thats it for now. Will have more soon. Next step is sanding the wood down to remove the sealer for stain.

Hm...Rosewood is cool, but I think it needs Elder wood knobs.

Permaspooked 01-12-2013 08:38 AM

Do those exist!?!

klejst 01-12-2013 08:50 AM

Indeed, that is really cool.
