The stuff I have for my Corvette is indeed sticky at first, but you have to let it soak for a couple of minutes and then rub it in and/or off. After a thorough rubbing, the body feels nice slippery, and has a nice shine that brings out the grain's "sparkle" in sunlight.
However, these basses were meant to be treated with beeswax regularly. If it says so in your Ibz manual, as well, then go ahead. If not, then first ask Ibz.
