Best way to "resize" pickguard

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently bought a replacement pickguard for my Jazz. All the screw holes match perfectly but the problem is that it is a little bit larger at the control plate side. I was thinking about cutting or sanding it but I don't know what is the best way to do it. Any thoughts?

I got an inexpensive, " Mighty Might " pickguard recently.
It looks great but it was sure hard to fit properly.
I used sandpaper and slowly took off the areas that needed it.
Keep bringing it back every few rubs and try refitting untill it lines up.
Mine looks great now !
