Black Stain on Figured Mahogany??

Sign in to disble this ad
So... I'm working on a bass that has figured Mahogany top and back... Some use black stain on figured maple, and sand it down some to make the grain pop... (Carvin is a good example of this)

Do you think it would work well with figured Mahogany?? The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning toward NOT doing it... Has anyone tried it??

Hopefully this picture attaches, but it will give you an idea of the grain I'm dealing with...

Thanks!

Willy
