Body to fit Mighty Mite neck?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Mighty Mite 5-string P-Bass neck, stamped 'licensed by Fender'. I've poked around a bit but haven't found a stock body that seems like it would fit. The nearest-to-ideal Warmoth bodies are all for 'deluxe' 5s(22-fret as opposed to my 20 frets), Stew-Mac doesn't seem to do a 5-string body; anyone have a suggestion(or wanna buy this neck)?

A mighty mite body...what else! No seriously that is pretty correct and also the squire protone wide-5 basses would probaby fit that neck. It is 3 inches at the last fret and if you don't do any luthiery I would learn how, to use a router to get that neck to fit a standard body. If I didn't have so many projects i might want to buy that neck off of you.

Ok, but where?

I've looked for MM bodies w/no luck- at least I'm not finding what I'm after(P or J- although I'd really like a T-Bird, ala Entwistle- to fit 20 fret). I have woodworking experience; I'm stuck at 99.9% done w/my 7-yr-old son's 26" scale mini-bass. My chief issue is that I'm a stay-at-home dad of 3(7, 4 & 11 mos), so I have no time. BTW, have you got anything in the way of trade bait(for the neck)or is it entirely a lack of time issue w/you, too?

About finding them, What i'd do is find an e-baye seller with the cheapest MM bass necks, PM them and ask them to get a 5 string mighty-mite body for you. They are dealers and can get anything. Im a stay at home dad too, with a little 5 month old boy and while he is sleepin, i put on the baby monitor and sneek out to the garage to do my work little by little. Since you have 3 kids,i don't see how you even play anymore, if any at all. No i have no trade bait stuff worth anything i was just blabbin about the neck, sorry. Also i have no money left now since i have sunk it in my nearly completed project, a 5 string fretless homemade bass.

Right on, man- I actually started 2 5-string electric uprights about the same time as my son's bass. One of them is mostly done...
As for playing, my only gig is church, which is awesome: 3, sometimes 4 sets per Sunday + rehearsal/practice. But my 'budding'(yeah, right)luthiery career is a very low priority for now. I'd been reminded about the neck when another TBer was looking for something similar.

I'll use your search method, too- thanks.
