What would be an average thickness of a body? top? and comination of the 2?

Location: Northern Virginia
depending on how heavy the woods are I like to go between 1.5" and 1.75". Top is usually 1/4" to 3/8" of that.

So, a 1/4" maple top on a 1.5" ash body would work.
