Hi,
Im building a headless frankenbass using perspex for the body wings.
All the electronics will be in the centre section of the body and so no wiring will be seen but I need a strong piece of wood for this section.
The measurements I need are:
105mm (4,1/8 inches)
370mm (14 inches)
32mm (1,1/4 inches)
Im open to ideas on wood types and grain patterns etc.., But please remember it will have many cavities routed into it, so it needs to be able to deal with this.
I also need all the edges to be square as I cannot do this accurately in my very limited "workshop".
If you have such a piece of wood please let me know with a rough idea of a price as I am looking to buy here.
A rough idea on shipping cost would be handy too. |

I have so much White Ash here I have no Idea what to do with it. Giving a body blank to a friend, building a 6 string with another blank, and Ive got about 5 more blanks after that. Its White Ash from the forest right beside my house, 59 year old tree, I noticed it had no more branches and the top was all rotten, eaten away by carpenter ants, so I cut it down and brought back the first 8 feet of the trunk, since it was nice solid wood, not attacked by ants at all, not spalted either. Its tight grained, really straight grained too. I can give you a piece with those exact dimensions, quartersawn or flatsawn, you choose. I can ship it to you from work with FedEx, UPS, whatever... Ill ask for prices this week. Then send me check that covers the shipping costs and promise me you'll use the blank and send me pictures of the Bass. Thats all I ask. In the meantime you can PM me. Peace. |

Technically, this type of thing has got to take place in the classified forum. Of course, since it's a rare thing to go there to find wood, this can stay here. Any actual responses to the original post should be done through the PM system. Thanks!

I figured this would be the best place to find guys with lumps of unwanted bodywood.
And Im also hoping the guys here can help with the wood choice for its strength. |
