Bolt-on to set-neck conversion. This might be stupid.

Ok, I've read that you can slip some Elmer's glue into a neck socket along with fixing in the screws in order to get sustain out of a bolt on that's similar to a set-neck. What I'm wondering is how it would turn out if I then decided to put a wood-putty or an epoxy-putty (I would lean towards the epoxy putty considering its extra strength) into the screw holes and maybe used an epoxy adhesive or something more set-neck suitable between the neck heel and the neck slot.

Does anybody know if this would be catastrophic or how it would effect the tone?

I'm betting you wouldn't hear a noticeable difference, but you'd have to pretend to because you'd be stuck with the result

If t'was me, I'd keep my bolt-on and shop/save for a neck thru. This coming from a guy who got out the router and put a whammy bar in a telecaster and regretted it, fwiw GFI

not the same type of tight fit as in a set neck.

perso9naly, i find glue necks stupid on solid bodies. fender made bolt ons, for the purpose of an easier fix, and is no different than a glue neck, exept, if the neck is damaged on a glued neck, you are pretty much stuck with a bad instrument. neck through has obvious advatages

I wouldn't do it Tommy el Gato. You run a huge risk of making your tone worse. The benefits don't outweigh the risks in this case.
