Bookmatching Tops

Sign in to disble this ad
I have some wood that I am going to bookmatch for a couple of bodies. The tops (which aren't really going to be tops) are going to be about 1/2 the thickness of the body. My questions is, should I glue the full ~ 1" thick pieces together and then slice it into thinner pieces, or should I thin it down first and then glue the tops together?

Slice first, then join, it's much easier and safer to resaw smaller stock.

Thanks scottyd. That's what I figured, I just thought it would be easier to glue thicker boards together.
