Daydreaming here - but has anyone ever bound a headstock?
I'm thinking of running some binding/inlay material on the headstock - maybe just on top or maybe all around it.
Thoughts? Whatcha thunk? |

I'll make one of my famous drawings in a bit to see how it might look.
I just looked in Stew-Mac and they have binding that is multi-colors and I guess one glues them together to accomplish colored plies - right? |

Thinking of green and yellow here. |

I see that Stew Mac states that their binding is just polystyrene plastic strips.
Hmmmm. Can I just find some polystyrene plastic in the right colors and cut it into strips and glue that onto the headstock? |

You can use a large number of plastics, woods, etc.

First I'll use my router and cut a 1/4" x 1/4" edge off the top of the head and then glue in the plastic in layers to fill it up to the whole 1/4" and sand it all to shape: seems to me that should work.
I was just asking in case someone had used that technique before, that's all. |

The monomer only needs to be compatible with the solvents of the finish that you choose. Try Michael's or Hobby Lobby for plastic sheets of polyethylene or polypropylene. I would avoid polystyrene since it collapses with nearly any finish solvent.
