Bridge Position question

Sign in to disble this ad
when i go to put my new headless bridge on my lotus headless project, it is not the exact same bridge, so how carefull do i need to be to make sure the strings will have the same amount of exposure from metal to metal? Is the length of string from the nut to the bridge really that delicate... ive thought about this several times ...
please help

Only if you are building a fretted bass with a pre-determined scale length.

Yes it is very delicate and crucial to proper setup and intonation.
Luckily most times you have some adjust-ability in the saddles to compensate, however the usual range is within a 1/4" or so.
Can you mark where your low and high string are with the old bridge? Just put tape on the top to mark it. That will at least give you the extremes.
Good luck,
Dirk
