Bridge positioning

Im making my own Warmoth Jazz bass, and im gonna have to put bridge on it.. but im not sure where to place it.. Should i set saddles somewhere in the middle of the availiable space ( for settign intonation) and position it on 34" from Nut? How do you do it? Any comment apprecieated!

You can set the saddles almost completely to the front. And position the bridge 34" from the nut, measured on top of the saddles.

Intonation settings are made because you have to compensate for the string length because you press the string down when playing. So you have to make the scale length slightly larger, sliding the saddle outwards. The thicker the string, the more compensation is necessary. You'll probably never are going to make the string / scale length shorter (unless your bridge position isn't correct).

So that's why the saddles can be set to the front / inwards / towards the neck, when positioning the bridge.
