Sign in to disble this ad
just picked up an ibanez sr305... i am looking to upgrade the bridge to a tremolo bridge... i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to which bridges might be best for my bass... i don't want to do anything that would require any excessive routing... help? thx

That bass has a narrow, 16.5 mm string spacing, and there are not even that many aftermarket fixed bridges for that bass.

Here is a fixed one:

Hip shot has a trem one that is available in three different string spacings, but not narrow enough for you:

If you like Ibanez basses , you may need to look at their BTB series, which has a 0.75 inch or 19 mm string spacing.

And...you know, you really need to get "tremolo" added to your thread title. If that is what you are looking for, you would get more help in that direction. Your current thread title is just going to drag in guys like me who are frustrated with the lack of aftermarket fixed bridges for Ibanez SR series.

well it seems i may have to just go w/ a non trem anyway unless i want to have some crazy mods done... not really tryina go that route. i'm all for modding my axe but if there's any extensive cutting/what-have-you involved i'd rather just say screw it...

Kahler makes tremolo bridges that require minimal routing (a small cavity on the top) and have adjustable string spacing. Check out whammiworld.com

I think it is wammiworld.com

Look here:

http://www.kahlerparts.com/Other_Pages/Model_Specs.htm

Look down where it says 7415, the model on the wammiworld site, then over to the orange 5 string column, and the string spacing looks like it is 12.7 mm. That looks like what you need. You need to look into that. Measure your string spacing, and call somebody.
