broken bodied dean

Well, I saw a dean edge 10, brand new that had been damaged in shipping from dean listed on a website for 74 bucks. It said it needed the body replaced because it was broken.
I figured I would use it for parts and build a body for it.
When it got here I found that it was a fairly clean break on the lower "wing"

After spending some time with the bass I decided to fix it, at least for now. I mean for a cheapo this thing plays NICE. And it sounds awesome. I was almost giddy from playing it.
So I broke the body the rest of the way through and test fit it and it lined up cleanly, so I glued it back and clamped it. It closed up so nicely that it looks like its only a crack in the finish.
I don't know what I'm going to do with it at this point. I don't know if I will just repaint it, or cut it and graft new wings like I did with the mockingbird, or what I will do. If I do make new wings, I don't know what I will make.
I just know that in the mean time I will be playing the hell out of it

Break it all the way apart and then glue it back on, which it sounds like you did, I would leave it just like that. If you really want to get into it you could scrape out the glue from the crack then mix some wenge/ebony dust and ca glue and fill the crack with that.

Nice repair. Just play it, or sell it. More pics?

Strip it, find the straightest line from one end to the other and cut it (depending on the tools you have at your disposal). True each side up add a thin piece in between (so that you don't disproportion it). Glue it up and vise it. Sand down the area surrounding the seam, tape it up, prime it, sand it some more and lay down a close color (unless you repaint the whole thing.) Finish it up.

I've already glued it back together, it would just be a matter of repainting, which doesn't bother me since I'm not a fan of black basses, I'm just looking for suggestions on a wacky body style. Id build a punisher out of it, but since they are probably coming out with punishers this summer, I need a different idea, but I'm drawing a blank. Short of making a giant, half-peeled banana, I've got nothing
