where does one obtain buckeye lumber?, preferable with some kind of figure. I live in the middle of the ol' buckeye state and I'm not exactly tripping over it.

are you looking for a bookmatched set ready to use, or a larger slab that you can resaw yourself?

I snagged a couple slabs on my last wood buying trip. I sanded a spot on one of these pieces so I could grab an image of the typical figuring hiding behing the very rough surface

it's difficult to find a source who's selling something large enough for resawing into tops. much of what is offered on eBay simply isn't of a usable size for bass building.

all the best,

R

Burton,
I can't recall where ScottyD (Redeemer) was getting his, but send him a PM, he's the resident buckeye bass man.

But try:

Hey, I'm from Columbus and an OSU alumni. I thought it was illegal to cut down a buckeye tree!

But a bass made from buckeye would be tre cool, even a nicely stained and figured cap.
