Remember that part in "The Jerk" when Steve Martin gets the new phone book and sees his name and says, "The new telephone book is here. Look, I'm somebody". I came across this post this morning and same thing applies!

Funny you should mention Steve Martin. He's from Waco too!

That bass is gonna be spectacular. My Roscoe is Buckeye Burl as well.. It'll get a LOT of compliments

Thanks Scotty! Your top made me go a searching and I also found an outlet in CA that has pages and pages of exotic (and very expensive) Buckeye burls, along with a lot of other stuff for instruments.

They are called "Newton Woods" in Fresno, CA

I fell in love with the irish oak burl appropriately listed in the "wood porn" section

I've used Newton Woods before, as a matter of fact RedLeg chose this top out of three, the two others were Newtons. I can look at the Newton website for hours, prettys soon all of that Buckeye they've got starts looking the same, or prehaps its just my eyes getting blurry!

honestly, without the bass outline, the burls really get monotonous. ooooh blue, ahhhh grey and yellow, oohhhhh pink blue yellow I've gone cross-eyed.
After scotty showed me his idea for the back, I knew I should go with his eye for detail. freakin artist, man!

A little bit of work to the body. The buckeye has a ton of curl in it.

Jeez... the pieces on that site are just too much for a sunday.

EDIT: Scott the bass looks great as always... Id use the top like in the pic with the template on it as in the first post though... matter of tastes I guess.

I would've liked to, but there were a couple of voids on the opposite side of the top, one of which would have ended up right on the lower horn. So I had to lower it to avoid causing problems with the glue joint and while shaping
