build advice

I am new to this whole building thig but am very interested in it. I am wanting to build a bass that sound like the one that Justin Chancellor from tool plays. iwas wondering what kind of would and stuff i would need to use to get that sound

i think i hear a can of worms opening somewhere.....

justin chancellor plays WAL basses and only WAL basses. WAL makes their own pickups andd preamps so it would be pretty tough to make an exact clone. since "justin" tone is definitely NOT traditional WAL tone, you can get close to "justin" tone with other electonics combinations. two good humbuckers, and active preamp, a GOOD bass amp and a compressor will get you close. also, there are a ton of threads on this site on this exact subject. i suggest you run a search for justin chancellor and start reading. good luck!

heres some good info for ya. amps and efffeccts are just as much a par of justins tone as that bass.
