build me a new single cut body for my Ibbie 6 string parts?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey!

I got an Ibanez SR506 that I love everything about it EXCEPT the narrow body! I love the neck, i love the pups! I love everything but the body is way too small for me. I want someone to build me a bolt-on body with a single cut design. And I want it about 16" wide cuz I'm tall. Doesn't have to be exotic woods, just sound good. I will send the whole bass, just resuscitate the bolt on neck, the pups, bridge etc.... You can even keep the body as part of the deal.

Any takers?

You are trying to offer the luthiers around here an import Ibanez body for the making of a custom body to fit someone else's neck?

Good luck.

the body isn't in lieu of payment. I fully expect to pay a luthier money. It's just theirs to do with what they want if they want it. I would look at s double cut too. It just needs to be a wider body

well, the bolt on necks are only bolted on at the heel, in a single cut, the bolts runn all the way up the side of the neck, to the 12th fret generally. and one side of the neck (the side with the bolts) is flat on the bottom and not rounded off.

makes sense.... Would have to be a faux single design withthe upper horn simply widened so that the bottomedge would run parallel to the neck but not contact it..photoshop here I come...

I'm tossing around a similar idea right now, with a Warmoth 6er neck I bought. If I could make up my mind, I'd be making some wood dust!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was decided a while ago that if people are looking for someone to do some luthier-type work for them, they could ask around, and that after that any communications regarding the work should go on via pm. So, this thread is kosher, and Alembicplyr handled it just right.

Thanks Basschair. It is partly to solicit work but also to pick the expert brains here to see if such a thing is feasible or even worthwhile doing?

Are you going to be able to find a case for that 16" wide bodied bass?

getting a custom made from blue heron cases... it was a chore believe me. I've got a 16.5" getting finished now - and 2.75" thick... so this one, if I can find a luthier to do it, will be easier...
