Finally had a chance to play it in anger this morning. WOW! What a sound. Dark and brooding with plenty of string tension and tone. It's currently setup with 10-56s

There are only a few little things to finish it off.
1. Polish the nut and glue it on.
2. Make a small cover for the back.
3. Put some kind of plaque on it.
I think 2 and 3 might be combined. As far as I can tell, my bro has NO idea it's coming, so I want to get someone to take a pic as he opens it.
What's also kind of nice about is that last night, my mentor told me it was easily the best guitar I've build so far. He kept saying, "well done" over and over and he's a total perfectionist. That meant a lot to me. This is not a complex design or fiddly in terms of inlays features and the like, but there were a number of tense moments. Putting it together yesterday had my hands shaking! I also realized there was no ground wire connected to the bridge!
Tests have revealed... it's unneeded at this point. *phew*
The point is, I can now turn out instruments of a commercial standard. Of course, I take ages, although this has happened pretty fast really. Show pics to come soon!
