Can fingernail wear be corrected?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am considering buying a used high end bass with wear on the finish around the pickups. The scuffs are clearly from a player's fingernails. Although, it appears to be only suface wear with no gashes in the wood top. Question is... can this finish be corrected? FWIW, the top is maple burl.

Thanks

I wish I could help but im not familiar with the application of catalyzed acrylic, it shouldnt be more than a simple sanding with 600 grit till the scratches are gone, then use Micromesh in sequential order to sand till you get a matching lustre. That is an educated guess, so I would wait until you get some more info from some of the other guys here.
