Candy apple red basecoat

Fellas,

Can anyone give me some tips on how to go about getting a nitrocellulose base coat paint for candy apple red? I would like to use Reranch paints so I can paint the headstock on my new to me Fender Jazz. I looked on Reranch's website for a suitable base coat paint but had no luck. Obviously I would have to use a nitro base coat so I won't have compatibility problems.

Silver colored paint gives more or a pinkish hue where gold base coat gives more of a darker richer look.

Thanks!

You dont have to use Nitro for the metallic coat. I believe the rule is there can be some incompatibilities with some brands and using nitro. Ive used Rustoleum bronze and silver with good results for candy tangerine so you could always try the bronze as the base coat. Just remember to always test it first.

Are you trying to paint the headstock to match an already finished body? It can be all but impossible to get a perfect match with candy colors. Hopefully you can get close enough to be be hard to notice with the fretboard in between.
