Caring for ziricote fretboard
Hello everyone. Hopefully this is in the right forum. I've recently bought a custom neck with a ziricote board. It looks and feels incredible but the wood looks very dry and I will tend to sweat badly on it. Just wondering what I could use, if anything, to prepare the board before I gig heavily on it and anything I can use to maintain and protect the board over time.

Everything is better than nothing... so oil or wax will do. The pores are small on Ziricote so not a huge problem. Oil will keep it clean and shiny and won't make it turn grey.

Thankyou for the reply. Just standard fretboard oil?

I'd prefer non-toxic oil but as I said, if the board is unfinished you can use almost everything, from linseed oil to Tung oil to non-toxic lemon oil to wax. When/if the board gets dirty you can clean it with a soft cloth slightly wet with turpentine and then re-oil it.
