Changing The Fretboard

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey i just got me first bass ... a Squier Modified Vintage P bass .. its pretty awesome. I really love the sound and the look BUT I am wondering if is it possible to change to fretboard. I dun wanna be a pozer of anything and i know the sound is the most importaint thing in any instrumen,t but the black fretboard really bugs my eye and pervents my bass to be "perfect" hehe. So i was wondering is changing a fretboard a usual attempted customization in a bass and is it complicated to do? (im not gonna change it ofc but im just interested in the process)

You would generally swap the whole neck, its easier, and its easy to get a fitting neck for a Fender style bass.

unless you have your own shop, you'll probably need a luthier to do this. keep in mind that it would probably cost more than whatever you payed for the bass.
