Classical guitar converted to a 5 string bass

I've converted an old classical acoustic guitar, 26 inch scale, into a 5 string bass. Its lasted 2 weeks now and hasn't buckled or had the top pop off and I thought I'd share it.

It is strung with pahoehoes like a u-bass. Tuning is BEAD, standard 5 string. Here's a quick utube vid.

and a link to my initial build ideas and eventually build photos over on ozbass

Cool!

I was tempted to try the same basic idea with a baritone steel guitar, but I didn't really have the money or time to risk failing at it.

Exar's business is on hold for now. I will still help previous customers.

Played some covers today at a fair with an acoustic guitar and vocalist and this thing sounded great.

I always love experiments with old guitars, great idea and outcome!

This one worked out better than I hoped now looking to do better pickups and experiment further before using a new instrument for conversion.
