A little more progress. Just need to order the neck inserts before I sand and start dying the body.

Threaded inserts are in, neck bolts fitted and the end of the fretboard has been trimmed flush with the pickup cavity. I should have some more time to work on it tomorrow.

Truss rod home is done.

I use the side of the table as my straight edge (I have the straight edge guide installed on my router for this). Even though I used double sided tape to hold the neck blank down, I clamp up a few pieces of wood next to the neck to make sure it doesn't move. I just have to make sure the centreline of the neck is parallel with the edge of the table and the rest is pretty straight forward.

Looking good. Where did you got the trussrod from?

These ones came from a luthier here on TB that ordered a bunch and had a few extra he could spare to sell off. They are the same ones that BestBassGear sells.

Fretboard is glued on to the neck blank.

The other neck is for a different bass. Same scale length, but a different body style and longer fingerboard.

Unfortunately I only have one length of truss rod and it looks like a headless (because I have to cut away part of the neck past the nut to recess the Hipshot head piece), 33" scale neck with only 21 frets is just a little too short for these rods. It doesn't cause a functional issue, but I would have preferred that the little flat bar on the top of the rod was totally hidden by the fretboard.

Recess for the head piece and nut are done. Next up is gluing the piece for the volute on the back of the neck. Then I should probably get to work on a jig for cutting the fret slots.

I also bolted the neck on so I could sand the end flush with the body. I think the body is ready for sanding and finishing! I'm looking forward to the dying. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
