Question Confused on Necks

Sign in to disble this ad
What is the most stable and still light weight system for neck stability?

Is it graphite reinforced?

Or is it better to have multiple pieces of alminated woods which are quarter sawn?

I assume that you would not have many problems with neck warping if you keep the bass in the case when not in use and keep it indoors and close to home most of the time.

Multiple laminated 1/4 sawn with a good truss rod is fine.
I never have needed carbon graphite in any of my basses, which are all 6 strings and one truss rod. I do use Wenge, Purpleheart and hard Maple, so really the rod needs to do very little anyway.

I have been looking for a nicer/different fretboard to while I like Wenge, I want to work with a Birds-eye Maple fretboard laminated to Hard (Rock) Maple. But I like the idea of the purple heart. I could go with a five piece neck with some color variation for interest.
