Current Projects-Obscene #of pics

so these are well under way, not alot of documentation; just took my first photos while prepping for finish so ya;
give ya a rundown on what your lookin at then just put a bunch of pics
first is a 5 stringer
sp.cedar body spalt/quilt maple top
7 pc neck curly maple/purpleheart
palisander fingerboard

The second is a 6 fretless
1 piece gen. mahogany body
mac ebony board
13 pc neck; cant remember, cant count em all in pic
mostly purple heart and maples
i tried to spruce it up with some ebony accents where i could; neck plate thingy inlay, LED spot jack input, and the little semi circle is a thumb rest (little smoother n harder)

i imagine others have asked this, but I'm seeing a lot of basses with a "scarf" at the scarf joint. (No pun intended.) How did you insert that black piece in there? is it just an additional piece you throw in there when gluing your scarf joint?

thanks
