Dingwall Plans

Hey guys,

So a year or so after making my first bass, I have decided to make a second. I have decided to make a bass similar to a Dingwall Combustion/ABZ. The body shape is nice and different and the multiscale of their 5 strings are perfect for the music I make. I will most likely end up buying one in the future but I am after a project as I have a lot of spare time and a workshop that isn't seeing a lot of action!

I'm just wandering if anyone has seen any blueprints or full scale drawings I could get a hold of online? I don't know anyone that has a Dingwall to trace around unfortunately. I am new to the fan fret designs of guitars and instruments, so I'd like to find correct detailed drawings to work from to get it right.

Thanks for your time guys!

I'm guessing finding blueprints for something like that would be next to impossible. I'm sure that Dingwall works pretty hard to protect their designs.

I think, it will be much more fun and rewarding if you actually come up with your own design rather than copying somebody else's work. Especially the ones with big name.

I don't know whether you care about this, but at the end of the project, no body is gonna say, "Nice, is that a Dingwall copy?"

If you want to do the fancy-multiscaled, fanned fret, this site (http://www.ekips.org/tools/guitar/fretfind2d/) would probably help you with that. It is pretty good. I will give you the preview of the fretboard based on your specs.

Hope it helps. Good luck...
