Anyone heard of this company? I wonder about their quality. http://myworld.ebay.com/edenguitarparts

| | | | I've never heard of them but their prices are sure cheap. I wonder where they get their necks and bodies. It looks like they cater mainly to lefties.
At such cheap prices it makes me think about taking a chance on a replacement neck. |

This is not to pass judgement: one of my bows is Chinese-made and is a good stick, and I have used Chinese parts for various things...not in basses though. I would be curious to know just how good their pickups are. |

I do have a couple complaints that are irrelevant based on the price, but the neck has the most bizarre grain that I've ever seen. There are some pretty gross knot stains on the back of the neck that always make me think that the neck is warped... The "vintage" finish is also kinda yellow. All in all though, the product is nice... Here's his finished guitar (he's 8 so no pot shots here):

| | | | I dont' know if it's the same for this stuff or not but I own a woodshop and I compete with companies that use cabinets made in China...
The mian problem that people around here notice is that over there is higher humidity and there lumber has like 33% moisture in it as compared to ours which is like 12-15%....
This has caused alot of the finishes and glues to seperate once they started getting use to this climate..
Like I said don't know if it's the same with the guitar stuff but just a thought

| | | | I have two eden necked projects, and they are alright. One had to have major fret end filing to stop me from tearing up my hand.... but for 15 minutes of sanding and filing, i will take the 50$ neck.

Leveling the fretboard and a refret, would not have fixed this new neck, this was the worst I have seen. I ordered it from Canada, but had to return it to Hong Kong. I also had to submit a few emails with documentation and pictures. It just wasn't worth it. Their customer service sux, but I did get my money back. Their hardware is ok though.

case and point: ever see a JB neck (their term) with this kind of heel? http://cgi.ebay.com/EDEN-Bass-Neck-J...742.m153.l1262
although they never actually claim that their neck fits anything, I personally find the "JB" terminology significantly misleading for the general public
and yet another non-standard neck heel someone will have to deal with http://cgi.ebay.com/EDEN-Bass-Guitar...742.m153.l1262
unless you're planning to use one of their necks with one of their bodies ... RUN Forrest, RUN!!! for US$39.99 you definitly don't get what you didn't pay for
all the best,

I'm thinking of getting one as a cheapy replacement neck.
Thoughts? Opinions? Prayers? Abuse?

I have seen both good and bad reviews of their stuff. I think if you have an expectation of Fender compatibility, you are bound to be disappointed. |

| | | Bumping again...
I imagine quality has not changed, and I avoid MIC stuff as much as possible, but I am looking for a economical way of converting a bass to fretless. I own a MIM Fender J, and a peavey millennium 4 bxp, both lefty. Both are very similar, functionally- only difference is the Peavey is more narrow at the nut (but almost the same at the 12th fret,) the Peavey is a 21-fret, vs. 20 for the Fender, and the peavey may have a longer neck pocket, and has 5 neck screws. The Peavey LOOKS quite different, though- contemporary rather than traditional.
Wouldn't the scale length issue be moot if it were a fretless neck? The listing I am watching says the Eden has a 34" scale length- the same as both my basses.
If the Eden neck's dimensions- length, neck pocket width and depth, are larger than the neck it will replace, I can cut and/or plane it down, right? How far would the truss rod attachment likely be from the butt end of the neck?
This is the neck I am considering: EDEN Paddle Fretless Bass Neck Rosewood/Maple Unfinished | eBay
Ebay item 160654462168
I have considered several methods of converting to fretless, and that neck seems to be the best compromise between difficulty and cost.
Any comments? If you want to weigh in on which bass to convert, that's okay, too. |
