Epoxy related question

I've been looking for West System epoxy but couldn't find any. I'm in Montreal, Canada, I thought maybe West System is an american brand and I might have to go to a really specialized shop to find it around here.

So instead the guy sold me "Phenolic Resin Base" of the Denalt brand. Before going further with that stuff, I wanted to ask around here, see if anyone has something to say about this stuff, if anyone has ever worked with that specific product.

Any and all insight is welcome

Before you apply that on a bass, test it on some scrap. If after 48 hrs in a warm place (60 deg F or above) you can ding it with a fingernail, then it's no good. Otherwise, it should be fine.

If it doesn't work for you, call Lee Valley. They have West System kits ...you want to slow cure kit ..I think it's the 206 hardener. http://www.leevalley.com

Yeah I was planning on trying it on some piece of scrap wood, then do a test run on my old crappy 4 string, my official crash test dummy.

Thx for the Lee Valley link, I didnt know about those guys, we don't have any of those stores in Montreal. I'll see if I can get that West System stuff mailed to me if I can't find it in town.

I could still use some info on any possible difference between Epoxy and Phenolic Resin, if anyone has some. I tried Wikipedia and it didn't really say much.
