Fender Neck Pocket Vs. Squier?

Hey all,

New member here, have really enjoyed reading the discussions and look forward to participating in them.

So I have an old junker bass--A Fender JP-90. (http://www.newjerseyguitarandbasscen...FenderJP90.jpg) Electronics are shot, it looks pretty dumb, but damn it if it doesn't have a fine fine neck. I've always entertained the idea of getting a new body, throwing the neck on there and having a fun new bass.

So I've been looking around at various fenders--complete, loaded bodies, and just bodies-- and was thinking of an el cheapo squier. My question is this: Is the neck of my JP-90 (essentially a jazz neck I think) going to fit inside the neck pocket of a squier? I've heard whispers that a squier neckpocket is slightly smaller, but nothing definitive.

depends on the factory the squier was made, they are notoriously inconsistent in their measurements, it's really a gamble. I have seen them smaller or larger, or sometimes the rounded part was shaped differently.

That confirms my suspicions based on the variety of answers I've heard to the question (they're all interchangeable, some too big, some too small, etc). Sounds like this should be a craigslist purchase, or maybe a cheaper fender. Anyone looking to sell a P bass body, preferably a deluxe/special?
