First build 7 string custom

Im having trouble determining what wood types id like for my bass

ive been really thinking about just a one piece walnut for the body and neck with an ebony fretboard
but ive heard a few 7 strings made from ash with maple top that sounded really good as well.

for a 7 string im not sure because the videos ive seen on walnut basses were only a 4 string, but i researched that walnut are great for a crisp sound and great highs which is what im aiming for.

i was also thinking a walnut body with a maple or koa top and a mahogany neck and of course the ebony fretboard.

any advice?

sounds good, the ash and maple top (flamed, spalted, quilted, ect) will make for a fairly light body, it wont be super light, but ligther than the walnut, and will give you a warmer sound over all, but the ebony sounds good, if you can get some that wide. but you might want a stiffer wood for the neck, because of the massive string tension, like maple, or wenge, hope that helps
