after about a year of work, my first bass i finally done! i didn't really take pics of it being worked on and all that, but i did take a few pics of the bass when it was at different stages. these first 2 are the piece of walnut that i made the body out of, and the rough cut of the body, in my highschool woodshop class.

these are it when it is starting to look like a bass. the fretslotting, fretting, bridge placement and scarf joint were done with the help of TBer Clayton (thanx man) Then the body shaping and contouring i did with my dads belt sander. i realy like how it riged out on the contour, and the shape and feel of it.

there are a few problems on it that keep bugging me. the inlay job, the too thin neck, the head angle, the neck to body joint looks off and has gaps because i shaped the butt of the neck wrong, one of the neck screws peaks out through the front because of this, the pup routing esp. on the mm is a little sloppy, i missed some of the grain filler on the edges, so some parts of it show up a crappy brown color instead of the walnut, and the finishing job could be (way) better. the better finished parts were wipe on highgloss tung oil. wish i finished the whole thing in that.

i just want to give another thanx to clayton (guess witch tber he is), because without his help, the neck would be a fender bolt on, and alot of the bass would not be as good as it is. and a thanx for my dad who helped wire it with e, and the school for actually letting me do this as a project. can't wait to take the finished bass in and see what they think! anyway, tuners are gotoh, bridge is baddas II, neck pickup is a basslines quarter pounder in reverse, bridge pickup is basslines smb-4d ceramic. controls are vol, vol, tone. i plan to fix all the problems later. i will add a coil selector switch for the mm, a series parrallel switch, a pre amp and an active passive switch, make bloodwood covers to fix the sloppy pup routings, and make an improved neck when i get better at it.

Looks like you got a good amount of experience from the class and build. With that and the upcoming changes/repair will give you a good foundation as a luthier. It is awesome to start from a idea and drawings, to a completed project. Congrats.

Unless I'm mistaken, that's the D string

The G-string is wrapped the wrong direction around its tuner post.
